Beware of scam
A new scam is making the rounds in Yavapai County in which a solicitor offers to pay consumers to work as “secret shoppers,” checking up on local stores. The solicitor then issues the consumer a check – often in the thousands of dollars - with a requirement that most of the funds from that check be wired back to the issuer. The check is later proven to be no good. Mary Hawkes with the BBB says anytime someone sends you unsolicited money and requests a portion be returned, it is most likely a scam.
