The Citizens Water Advocacy Group and the Verde Watershed Association are hosting an educational forum "Recharge of Treated Wastewater to Groundwater: What Are the Risks?" on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 882 Sunset in Prescott (two blocks behind True Value). Forum speakers will examine what is known about the presence and persistence of emerging contaminants that are unregulated and not completely removed by our conventional treatment processes and their potential adverse effects on our drinking water sources and on aquatic life.

Marilyn Markham Petrich, RN will offer a workshop November 13 from 9 to noon for people who feel they may be Empaths. An Empath deeply feels and identifies with another person's feelings or difficulties, without realizing these feelings belong to the other person. Using simple meditations, participants will learn to create energetic boundaries and remain centered in times of stress. Location is Mountain Spirit Co-Op, 107 North Cortez in downtown Prescott. The program will be presented and led by local educators and community leaders including Charles Mentken, Northpoint Expeditionary Learning Academy; Lou Burrell, former Catholic priest and 1960s Chicago civil rights activist; Betsy Barnes, 1950-60s civil rights activist and lifelong League member; and Earl Goodwin, former Mayor, Town of Dewey-Humboldt.

The Friends of the Dewey-Humboldt Town Library are presenting a fabulous book sale this week. On sale are great, gift quality books, DVD movies, VHS movies, audio books, music CD's, and computer software that would make awesome Christmas gifts. Come down for the sale on Thursday, November 11: 12:30-7:30pm, Friday, November 12: 9:30am-4pm, and Saturday, November 13: 9:30am-4pm. The sale will take place in the lower floor of the library in the J.W. Mitchell room. Take Route 69 to Humboldt, turn on to Main St., turn left on to Prescott St. (second left), turn left into the big parking lot just past Corral St. All monies raised from the sale will be used to support the Dewey-Humboldt Town Library.

This is a fundraiser to support LVQG's donations to the various charity organizations in the area, plus enabling LVQG to invite National speakers to our Guild.

The Chino Valley American Legion Auxiliary presents the 12th Annual Christmas Craft Show, Saturday and Sunday, November 13th and 14th, from 10 am to 4 pm at the American Legion Unit 40 in Chino Valley, at the corner of Highway 89 and Road 3 South.

This event is open to the public and will feature talented artists and crafters from across the region. There will also be a bake sale, raffles, and door prizes. There is no charge to attend.

Crafters may purchase space indoors including an 8-foot table for $20 per day. Setup begins on Friday between 7 pm and 9 pm.

The Snack Bar opens at 11 am both days. Support our Veterans and their families by shopping locally for one of a kind crafts for the special people on your Christmas list!

The American Legion Auxiliary of Unit 40 is a non-profit charitable organization benefiting veterans of Northern Arizona and their families, the Veterans Administration hospital, and Chino Valley high school scholarship funds.

The Annual Zeke Taylor Barbecue is coming up on Saturday, November 13. Be sure to stop by the Clemenceau Heritage Museum in Cottonwood for the tastiest barbecue in the Verde Valley - succulent, tender beef, slow roasted overnight in mesquite coals, served with cowboy beans, coleslaw, desert and beverage - plus western style entertainment. It's a great place to visit with old friends and make some new ones.
