Event Title: Christmas Tree Cutting Permits

Limited Christmas tree permits are now available for
over-the-counter sales on the Coconino National Forest. Christmas tree
permits are $15 each and can be paid for by cash or personal check.
Christmas tree permits are issued one per household and are first-come,
first-served until sold out. Phone orders cannot be accepted.
Instructions and a map will be provided with each permit. Cutting dates are
November 20 - December 24.
Red Rock Ranger District has 200 permits for pinyon pine or
juniper trees. Cutting areas are located near Stoneman Lake off of
Interstate 17 and near 13-Mile Rock off Highway 260. Permits can be
purchased at the Red Rock District Visitor Building on Highway 179
one mile south of the Village of Oak Creek, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Mogollon Rim Ranger District has 250 permits for fir trees.
Cutting area is along the Mogollon Rim at the south end of Dane and
McClintock Ridges. Permits can be purchased at the Mogollon Rim
Ranger Station on Highway 87, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Starting August 19 th and continuing every third Thursday of the month through the fall, Young Voices Be Heard is hosting a Youth Poetry Open Mic in the public garden space at the ChocolaTree Café from 5-7pm.
Young Voices Be Heard (YVBH), from NORAZ Poets, has been giving young poets, ages 13-19, the opportunity to sharpen their writing and performance abilities through spoken word workshops and performances at Sedona Red Rock High School for over 6 years. Any writers younger than 13 who would like to come out and participate are also welcome.
The non-profit organization is calling to all young writers and poets in our community to step up and be heard in this new and exclusively youth -oriented Open Mic at the ChocolaTree Café. All styles of poetry, prose, short story, and any variation therein are welcome. Original work from the young individual is encouraged. There will be a feature artist every month as well as delicious and nutritious food and desserts available at the Café.
Recurrent dates for the Open Mic will be Sept. 16 th, Oct. 21 st and Nov. 18 th. Young poets can start signing up at 4:45.
