Arizona Academic Standards Test Scores Show Progress

Statewide, Superintendent of Public instruction Kathy Hoffman said on Wednesday scores on the Arizona Academic Standards Assessment showed some progress over the prior year, up 3% age points in ELA and a 2% point increase in mathematics. In Arizona, public district and charter schools are tested in Grades 3 to 8 in ELA and math, and in Grade 11, students take the ACT exam. This year’s test shares many similarities with the former test but is not identical conclusions should be made with caution when comparing results year to year. In Prescott, Assistant Superintendent Mardi Read said, overall, she is “very proud” with the overall results. She said they show progress despite the impacts of COVID-19 on learning and instruction.
