Wind Advisory Until 7pm Tonight/Next storm hits Wednesday

The National Weather Service says today will be a windy day as we sit between two low pressure systems. A wind advisory is in place until 7-pm tonight for the northern half of the state. Expect southwest wind gusts in the 40 to 55 mph range beginning by late this morning and continuing into early evening. Strong wind gusts will likely continue overnight in areas such as Doney Park and Springerville. In addition, some showers may develop tonight, capable of producing lighting in areas near the Utah state line. Wednesday, the next low pressure system will bring chilly temperatures and precipitation to northern Arizona. Snow levels are expected to be in the 6500-to-7500-foot range, with minor accumulations of less than an inch below 8,000-feet while 2-to-4-inches of snow are possible on the Kaibab Plateau and along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Thursday through Saturday our chances for showers will gradually decrease; cool and breezy conditions will continue through this period. Sunday and Memorial Day Monday, strong winds are set to return in front of another storm system.
